The Department of Mathematics at Arkansas Tech University, a public, state-supported, primarily undergraduate teaching institution, invites applications for a 9-month academic year, tenure-track position to teach a full-time load of twelve credit-hours per semester. The application deadline is February 14, 2014 and the position, which includes a comprehensive benefits package, begins August 2014. Candidates must hold an earned doctorate in Mathematics or Mathematics Education by the time of appointment.
The successful candidate will have prior University or K-12 teaching experience. Demonstrated expertise in assessment according to NCTM standards is preferred, along with an understanding of research based best practices in mathematics education, as well as the ability to integrate technology in the classroom to facilitate student learning. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate mathematics courses for majors and non-majors, mathematics content and pedagogy courses for pre-service teachers. Also includes advising undergraduate majors, visiting and evaluating math pre-service teachers and concurrent credit math teachers in the local schools. Opportunities exist to teach and/or develop online learning courses. The candidate should demonstrate ability to develop a successful research program that includes collaborative work with colleagues and incorporates experiences for undergraduate students. Will provide service to the department, college, and profession through committee work, program assessment and curriculum development as well as engagement with external partners and other duties as assigned.
