Arkansas Tech University is seeking an English as a Second Language (ESL) Instructor to work in the English Language Institute (ELI). The ELI offers non-credit English language instruction during the fall and spring semesters, including a summer intensive English language program. This is a full-time, non-tenure track, 12-month position scheduled to begin on February 1, 2013. The hours required for this position are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm and occasional weekend activities and field trips. Annual salary range is $30,000 to $36,000 depending upon experience. Primary Job Functions:

• Deliver ESL instruction to both undergraduate and graduate students in small and large group settings
• Develop and implement curriculum including, but not limited to, basic through advanced academic grammar; academic writing process; vocabulary building skills; reading skills; and speaking, listening and communication skills
• Assist with field trip planning and execution
• Assist students in writing, reading and listening labs
• Be willing to encourage and promote multicultural awareness among students, faculty, staff and the local community
• Assist with International Student Orientation each semester for incoming international students 
• Assist with standardized testing, including TOEFL exams
• Assist with completion and graduation ceremonies
• Assist with accreditation process
• Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning
• Maintain student grading and attendance records
• Collaborate colleagues for program assessments

Minimum Requirements:
• Baccalaureate degree in English, English Education, TESOL or an appropriate academic area
• Classroom teaching experience
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in an appropriate academic area with two or more years of experience in a similar position
• Two or more years of experience teaching international students
• Experience working with international students and their families, including those for whom English is a second language
• EFL teaching experience in countries other than the U.S.
• Familiarization with other cultures
• Attention to detail with the ability to prioritize
• Customer service oriented
