Arkansas Tech University (ATU) invites applications for the 12-month full-time position
of Project Lead the Way (PLTW) State Affiliate Director (AD). Arkansas Tech University,
founded in 1909, is a multi-purpose, state-supported institution of higher education
dedicated to providing an opportunity for higher education to the people of Arkansas
and to serving the intellectual and cultural needs of the region in which it is located.
The University offers a variety of programs committed to excellence in undergraduate
and graduate studies. PLTW is the leading provider of rigorous and innovative Science,
Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education curricular programs used
in middle and high schools across the U.S. ATU is the PLTW Affiliate Partner for
the State of Arkansas.
Responsibilities: The AD facilitates the delivery of the PLTW Pathway to Engineering
(PTE) and Gateway to Technology (GTT) programs to PLTW schools within the state.
Specifically, the AD provides and coordinates activities such as professional development
(i.e. Core Training and Counselor Conferences); college-level recognition (i.e. undergraduate
credit for students and graduate credit for teachers); program quality initiatives
(i.e. School Certification and technical assistance); and statewide/regional support
and communication. The AD promotes PLTW support and communication with Arkansas industrial
and commercial leaders and coordinates PLTW activities closely with the Arkansas Program
Support Manager for School Improvement in Little Rock. The AD attends PLTW meetings
at the regional and national level. The AD is a liaison between ATU and all Arkansas
schools and directs on-campus summer engineering opportunities for middle and high
school students.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, or STEM related field; and excellent communication and people skills
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree, administrative experience, and PLTW experience is very desirable
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
