Arkansas Tech University invites applications for the position of Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities, to begin on July 1, 2014.  The university enrolls over 11,000 students and is located in Russellville, Arkansas, in the scenic Arkansas River Valley area approximately 80 miles west of Little Rock.

The College of Arts and Humanities, the largest college in the university, includes the departments of Art, Behavioral Sciences, English and World Languages, Music, History and Political Science, and Communication and Journalism.  Offering both undergraduate and graduate degrees, the college is administered by the dean, who is responsible for the coordination, development, evaluation and promotion of programs. The dean, who reports directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, works in cooperation with department heads to ensure quality in educational delivery and compliance with state and national accreditation standards. Other duties include oversight of the college and department budgets, representing the college within the university and community, and other activities and projects as assigned.

The successful candidate must have an earned terminal degree from an accredited university in one of the disciplines in the college, demonstrated success in teaching, scholarship, and service, and evidence of effective administrative leadership.

Preferred qualifications include:
• Demonstrated leadership skills in building collaborative relationships, both within academic units and outside the university.
• Evidence of cooperative management style and good communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience in obtaining external funding through grants.
• Demonstrated commitment to the development of innovative teaching and instructional technologies.
• Ability to envision new opportunities for the college.
