International Students

     Any student who is not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States is considered an international student. A brief description of the information required to apply for admission to the Graduate College at Arkansas Tech University is listed below.

  2. Application fee: In addition to a $50.00 international student application fee, applications received after May 15, 2008 will require a $25.00 one-time, nonrefundable application fee for the graduate school. For more details, please visit the FAQs page.

     
  3. Academic records:
    • must be originals or official copies of all academic records with official English translations. Notarized copies will not be accepted.
    • must have the equivalency of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited U.S. college or university in an appropriate program of study. All undergraduate degree requirements must be completed, and official academic records must state that the student has received a bachelor's degree. For full acceptance, the overall undergraduate grade point must average 2.50 or better (on a 4.00 scale).

     
  4. English proficiency: Students who wish to apply for admission to the English Language Institute (ELI) are not required to demonstrate English proficiency. All others must meet one of the following:

    a. Written Test of English as a Foreign Language: 550 or higher.

    b. Computerized Test of English as a Foreign Language: 213 or higher.

    c. Internet-Based Test of English as a Foreign Language: 79 or higher.

    d. International English Language Testing System: 6.0 or higher.

        Scores must be received directly from Educational Testing Service (ETS) for admission. The school code for Arkansas Tech University is 6010.

    e. Successful completion of an English as a Second Language program through the English Language Institute (ELI) or a site approved by Arkansas Tech University.

    f. A bachelor or masters degree from a country whose official language is English. Students with such a degree may be waived for the TOEFL or IELTS requirement.

     
  5. Evidence of sufficient financial support: The statement must verify that at least $13,338 (USD) is available for the support of the student for two semesters of study; certified evidence of the source and amount of support must accompany the application.

     
  6. Priority application deadlines:
     
    • Fall Semester: May 1st. (August Intake)
    • Spring Semester: October 1st. (January Intake)
    • Summer Sessions: March 1st. (June and July Intake)

     
  7. Financial aids and scholarships: Arkansas Tech University does not offer specific financial aids for international students, but all students may apply for privately funded scholarships . Graduate students may apply for limited numbers of graduate assistantships .
