B.F.A. in Creative Writing
Arkansas Tech's B.F.A. in creative writing, which was established in 1975, is the only program of its kind in this region and one of only twelve in the United States.

Each year, six high school seniors win scholarships in Tech's Creative Writing Contest

B.C. Hall, the author of The South, Judgment Day, Big Muddy and other books, was one of the founders of Tech's creative writing program. Francis Gwaltney, the author of The Day the Century Ended, Destiny's Chickens, Idols and Axel Grease, and other novels was another founder of Tech's creative writing program.
Tech creative writing students produce two copies of Nebo, Tech's award winning literary journal each year. Tech creative writing graduates have gone on to advanced study at the University of Texas, Penn State University, Southern Mississippi University, Naropa University, the University of North Carolina, and the University of Arkansas. Nick Morris, pictured at the left has just published his first book, Tapeworm.
