Mrs. Earls is from Russellville, Arkansas where she received both her baccalaureate and master’s degrees from Arkansas Tech University. While working on her degrees she worked on the Emergency Operations Plan for Tech including a Pandemic Annex and Emergency Procedures for classrooms. She then worked as a graduate assistant for the Department of Emergency Management while completing her Master’s degree at Arkansas Tech University. She worked as an Adjunct Professor before becoming a tenure-track Assistant Professor.

Currently, Mrs. Earls is a member of the Arkansas Crisis Response Team. She also is the Faculty Advisor for both the International Association of Emergency Managers Student Chapter at Arkansas Tech University and the Emergency Management Advanced Training Team. Mrs. Earls also serves on the Faculty Senate committee at Arkansas Tech University.

Her research interests include: earthquake mitigation and preparedness policies; volunteer and resource management; exercise planning, management, and evaluation; and online and team based learning in emergency management curriculum.
