Dr. Ryan Theroux comes to ATU and joins CSP with higher education experience in both administrative and faculty roles at both two-year and four-year institutions. Originally from New England, Dr. Theroux first entered the field of student affairs as a career coach serving students with disabilities at the Community College of Rhode Island. At the college, he also worked as an evening academic advisor, part-time student success and English instructor, and counselor/ coordinator and then assistant director of a TRIO program serving low-income, first generation, and disabled students. Dr. Theroux has additional student affairs experience working with commuter students while serving as an off-campus housing manager at the University of Rhode Island. Most recently, Dr. Theroux served as an academic affairs administrator at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. He currently resides in Nevada and serves as an online graduate faculty member in addition to leading his own private consulting practice.
Dr. Theroux holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and a M.S. in College Student Personnel from the University of Rhode Island. His B.A. is in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations from Rhode Island College. His research interests focus on campus culture, specifically, cultural artifacts such as institutional traditions, rituals, history, architecture, myths, language, and other symbols on college campuses that convey and communicate meaning to its members. Dr. Theroux has been actively involved in ACPA and enjoys presenting at national conferences.
