Dr. Giroir is an energetic and passionate educator that brings enthusiasm and years
of experience on both the student services and academic sides of the university from
both public and private institutions to the classroom. He has experience primarily
in the area of residence life, but also has worked in the areas of student activities,
judicial affairs, student leadership, and campus recreation/wellness.
Focusing on his academic experiences, Dr. Giroir served as a faculty member and the
CSP program coordinator at The University of Southern Mississippi. In that capacity
he had the opportunity to teach both master and doctoral students in the areas of
college student personnel and higher education administration. In addition, Dr. Giroir
has taught several undergraduate courses on student development, transitioning to
college life, leadership development, and servant leadership.
Dr. Giroir has a B.A. degree in History from McNeese State University in Lake Charles,
LA; a M.A. degree in Student Personnel Services at Northwestern State University in
Natchitoches, LA; and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from The University
of Southern Mississippi. His research interests center in the areas of student engagement,
civic engagement, servant leadership, diversity education, and gender studies particularly
men and masculinity in higher education. He has been actively involved in ACPA, SACSA,
Paper-Clip Communications and several state and regional housing associations for
the states of Mississippi and Louisiana as well as the southeastern region of the
US. He was selected to be included in Academic Keys' "Who's Who in Higher Education".
