Dr. Larry Root
Dr. Root joined the Tech family in February 2009. He received his Bachelor of Science from Houston Baptist University with a double major of psychology and Bible, a Master of Arts in Counseling from University of Houston-Clear Lake and a Doctor of Education in Higher Education from University of Houston-University Park. Previous positions in higher education have included: Director of Counseling/Assistant Professor of Psychology at Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge, AR; Director of Career Services at Houston Baptist University in Houston, TX; and Director of Institutional Research, assessment and Effectiveness at American InterContinental University in Houston, TX. Other life experiences have included years in church ministry, charitable fundraising and private business.

Ms. Valerie Breashears
Valerie Breashears is a graduate of Arkansas Tech University earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Science in College Student Personnel. Valerie took her position as counselor at Tech in August 2008. Her previous work experiences included Coordinator of Student Development at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and Student Affairs Officer at the University of California Los Angeles.
