Dr. Rebecca Shopfner joined the TECH faculty in January 2000.  She completed her doctorate in curriculum and instruction in December 1999 at the University of Arkansas.  Dr. Shopfner was a classroom teacher for twenty-three years in the Fort Smith Special School District.  Prior to joining the Arkansas Tech University faculty, she was Director of the Arkansas Leadership Academy Teacher Institute.

Dr. Shopfner is  involved in the National Board certification process for teachers.  She is a trained NBPTS facilitator and provides support for those interested in the National Boards through the Center for Leadership and Learning.  She developed the Arkansas program of study for the Instructional Facilitators.

In addition, she leads the development of a unique non-traditional teacher licensure option in the MTLL degree.

Dr. Shopfner serves on the Arkansas Teacher Evaluation Task Force and the Arkansas ASCD Board of Directors.
