The Center for Preparedness and Recovery at Arkansas Tech University is a new initiative
that offers disaster response assistance for school districts and local government
agencies throughout the state. So far, the Center has worked with multiple school
districts to aid them in preparing a disaster plan.
According to the Institute for Business and Home Safety, “One-fourth of all businesses that close because of a disaster never reopen, but businesses that have a disaster preparedness plan - and implement it - typically have less damage, loss and downtime than those that do not.”
Mission
To integrate the emergency management academic and research capabilities of Arkansas Tech so that they effectively assist government, the private sector, and all levels of education in addressing their needs for planning and for responding to the threats they face.
