Employer Information SessionsEmployer Information Sessions at Arkansas Tech University [ATU] are an opportunity for students, faculty, and employers to get to know one another. A typical information session lasts 30-60 minutes [usually in the evening] with the emphasis on company representatives educating students and faculty about their business. The most productive sessions promote a relaxed atmosphere where the audience feels comfortable asking questions about the organization. While not a necessity, organizations should consider providing refreshments for the session. Employers can benefit from information sessions in a number of ways. First, it is important for employers to cultivate a presence on campus to make students aware of opportunities in their firm. Second, companies can provide students with vital information about their enterprise prior to On-Campus Interviews and Career Fairs. Finally, ATU students are advised by faculty about academic progress. Company representatives are encouraged to invite faculty to information sessions. Students get an opportunity to learn more about a potential employer by attending Employer Information Sessions. Prior to On-Campus Interviewing or Career Fairs, students have the chance to ask questions about a firm and make a positive first impression on corporation representatives. Information sessions are open to ALL ATU students. While students are not interviewing for a position during the session, it is still important to make a good impact on a potential employer. Students are encouraged to wear business casual clothes which typically mean khakis or dress pants and a nice button down shirt or polo shirt. Faculty members are invited to attend Employer Information Sessions to learn about potential employers for their students. Company representative who want to arrange an Employer Information Session should contact the ATU Career Services office to make arrangements. There is no cost to use one of our conference rooms, however space is limited and early planning will allow us to book a room easier. Please contact Jayne Sewell at 479-968-0278 or jsewell@atu.edu to set up a session. |
