Broadcast Journalism, May 2008
I graduated from Arkansas Tech in December 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism. Activities include producer and anchor for Tech TV; a member of the Golden Girls Dance Team, serving as captain my senior year; and a member of Zeta Tau Alpha. The education and experience I gained while at Tech set me up for success, and helped me grow as a person and a professional. The journalism staff helped me obtain two internships during my college career. I was able to work for two of the largest and highest-rated TV stations in Arkansas. These were both such valuable experiences and offered so much insight and real world experience. These internships, coupled with the hands- on training obtained through working at Tech's TV station, made me confident that my degree had validity and substance in the journalism world.
After college, I decided to veer from the journalism path, enrolling in the Higher Education graduate program at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. During this time, I began working full- time in the Office of Admissions. Having been promoted twice since my start date, I am now the Assistant Director of Admissions for New Student Orientation at the University of Arkansas, and find my job extremely rewarding and exciting. I know that skills learned at Tech were transferrable and have proven beneficial to my career path.
I would not be where I am today without the education, experiences, and friends obtained while at Tech. I am a proud alumna of Arkansas Tech University and I will cheer on the Wonderboys and Golden Suns forever!
