History and Political Science, 2008
As a member of the US Air Force I was happy, but more than anything I wanted to complete my education. I have been fortunate to have visited many places and met people from all over the world. Arkansas holds a special place in my heart and it continued to draw me home. After my enlistment in the military was over, I decided to enroll at Arkansas Tech; I was worried that my being out of school for so long would make completion difficult for me. My professors put my mind at ease; all it took was a lot of studying and determination. A special thanks goes to Dr. Gleason. She made me think, and challenged me and my way of thinking. Thanks to her, I no longer look at things and not question what were the not so obvious facts that were the driving forces behind our culture and ideologies as we know them. A mind that was once shut is now open to all possibilities. I completed my History and Political Science degree in 2008.
My current position as the local Veterans Employment Representative is truly my dream job. It allows me to keep serving the local veteran population and I have the opportunity to educate local employers of the advantages of hiring veterans. My time spent at ATU help me to build the skills I would need to be successful in today’s job market.
