Mrs. Andrea Martin is the recently named Superintendent for the Alpena School District. Formerly a teacher, Principal, Director of Instruction and Interim Superintendent at the Green Forest and Danville School Districts, she earned her Bachelor’s, Master’s and Educational Specialist Degrees from Arkansas Tech University and is on track to receive her Doctorate of Education from Lamar University in the Summer of 2014.
Mrs. Martin was appointed by the Arkansas Commissioner of Education to serve on the Child Health Advisory Committee in accordance with Act 1220. She has previously served on the Arkansas Association of Elementary School Principals (AAESP) board, as well as the Arkansas Association of Curriculum and Development (ASCD) board. As a school administrator, she has been a participant in the state Coordinated School Health Initiative and continues to model ASCD’s belief that each child deserves to be healthy, safe, engaged, supported and challenged. In addition to 18 years in the public school system, she develops and presents “English as a Second Language Instructional Strategies” professional development across the state and through the Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN) Internet Delivered Education portal.
She currently resides in Green Forest with her husband Jay who is the Head Football and Track Coach, as well as the Athletic Director for Green Forest Schools. She and her husband have two boys, Jayce and Jayden.
