
Eighteen students and one faculty member from Arkansas Tech University were inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society during a ceremony on the Russellville campus Wednesday afternoon.

The ceremony, which took place in the Chambers Cafeteria West Dining Room, included a recognition of Dr. Richard Smith (photographed) for his service as secretary/treasurer of the Beta Gamma Sigma chapter at Arkansas Tech since its inception.
Smith, a member of the Tech faculty since 1991, has announced his retirement effective at the end of the current academic year.
Dr. Joe Moore, professor of economics at Tech and a member of the faculty since 1988, will join Smith in retirement at the end of the second summer term on Aug. 8.
Moore was honored on Wednesday with induction into Beta Gamma Sigma.

Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is an honor reserved for the top business students and business faculty members at universities and colleges that have been accredited by AACSB International.
Beta Gamma Sigma traces its roots back to the founding of an honor society for business students at the University of Wisconsin in 1907.
Since then, the honor society has inducted 605,000 members. Today, Beta Gamma Sigma members reside in all 50 states and in 160 countries. The organization is active on 481 campuses around the globe.
