David Mudrinich
My art stems from the observation of a specific geographic place. Often I produce
works and studies on location. When working in the studio on larger pieces, I tend
to reflect more on my recalled experience. My intent is not to proclaim any political
stance or polarized environmental opinion. It is more the result of a chance witness,
observing the encountered conditions between the earth and sky. This work can fluctuate
between sweeping, peaceful vistas and vulnerable environments that are undergoing
rapid alterations. It is that sense of place that I find important... that complex
of natural rhythms and life cycles merging with the visual impact that human activity
has left upon the land. Currently, most of my images are derived from investigations
of the Ozark Plateau, the Arkansas River watershed and the Oklahoma prairie.
